Adult & Junior Programs

USTA Schools Tennis
  • Introduces tennis to youngsters in school through physical education classes.
  • Provides free equipment, training for teachers, curriculum materials, motivational assemblies and follow-up workshops.
  • Reaches over 500,000 students yearly in the south.
USTA Tennis - NJTL
  •  Targets juniors of all ages.
  •  Active in public parks and private clubs.
  •  Offers grant money for starting new NJTL programs and expanding existing ones.
  •  Co-founded by Arthur Ashe and Charles Pasarell in 1969.
USA Tennis 1 . 2 . 3
  • A low-cost introductory program for new or returning players.
  • Prepares juniors to play tennis in just 6-12 weeks.
  • Provides instruction and supervised play.
  • Prepares participants for USA Team Tennis(Youth).
USTA Team Tennis - Youth
  • Introduces players ages 6 - 18 to competitive team tennis while emphasizing fun, fitness and friends.
  • Focuses on fundamentals and positive coaching for youngsters who are comfortable with full-court play.
  • Matches players of similar age and ability using the Juniors National Tennis Rating Program (JNTRP).
  • Includes free T-Shirt.
USTA Team Tennis (Red Division)
  • Introduces the basic fundamentals of tennis to 4 - 8 year olds.
  • Encourages parents to be involved as team coaches.
  • Includes a tennis racquet, t-shirt and trophy.
  • Flexible format allows implementation at tennis facilities, recreational centers or school gyms.

Adult Programs

USTA Tennis 1 . 2 . 3 
  • A low-cost introductory program for new or returning players.
  • Prepares adults and active lifestyle seniors to play tennis in just 6 - 12 weeks.
  • Provides instruction and supervised play.
  • Prepares participants for USA Team Tennis (Adult) and other recreational team programs.

USTA Team Tennis (Adult)

  • Offers the opportunity to play organized team matches in a friendly atmosphere.
  • Emphasizes the fun, fitness and social benefits of tennis.
  • Prepares players to "graduate" into BMW Combo Doubles, USA League Tennis, and USA League Mixed Doubles.
Southern Combo Doubles
  • Provides players an opportunity to enjoy playing with their friends of other skill levels in men's and women's doubles by combining NTRP ratings in divisions 4.5 - 10.5
  • Allows players to self-rate if they do not have computer ratings or verified ratings.
  • Easy to form teams; local format may include league play or tournament play.
USTA League Tennis
  • Involves over 100,000 adult, senior and mixed doubles participants in the South
  • Adult and Senior divisions feature progression from local to District, Sectional and National Championships in adult (2.5  5.0) and senior (3.0 - 4.5) divisions for men's and women's teams. Adult divisions include two singles and three doubles; seniors format includes three doubles divisions.
  • Mixed Doubles format includes adult 5.0 - 9.0 and senior 6.0 - 8.0 levels with three positions. Players without computer or verified ratings may self-rate. Progression form local to District, Sectional and Regional Championships with teams from the Southern, Florida and Caribbean Sections.

  • ATC's bring together the 20 best players, ages 11-14 - located in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, & Shreveport
  • ATC training averages 10 training days per year
  • ATC training includes certified coaches, sport-science, drills, match play
Collegiate programs
College Player Profiles
LTA Junior Players can obtain college tennis scholarships through the USTA Collegiate Database!  Just by filling out a Player Profile Form and sending it to the USTA, your name becomes added to the database that college coaches use as an aid for their recruiting.  Contact the LTA office or Dede Allen, at the USTA-Player Development office, 7310 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne, FL 33149 (305) 365-8782 for more information on the USTA Collegiate Database or Player Profile Forms.

  • USTA Local Excellence Training (LET) sites
